Get fit and have fun

The City of Kelowna is making Knox Mountain a lot more interesting thanks to an app that lets you explore the outdoors in an interactive way.

Launched as a project through the brand Active by Nature, event development supervisor Mariko Siggers says the app QuestUpon lets people come together and try something new.

“There are two adventures to try, the Knox Challenge is about getting to the top as fast as you can, timing it and challenging your friends,” Siggers explains. “The Knox your Sox Off is a lot more interactive, more playful.

“It gets you to learn about the park itself, the community, the history, some of the fun things you might find throughout the different seasons here.”

Started just over a year ago, Active by Nature was designed to reduce barriers to physical activity and get you to explore the outdoors.

“We just want everyone to get out and see our own backyard. It is beautiful here and so accessible.”

QuestUpon is available for download on both iPhone and Android devices. It was designed by a local company that is associated with PlayMobility.

Along with these quests, the city has also launched a two-week contest for anyone who completes the Knox Your Sox Off and/or the Knox Challenge quests, which take place along the Apex Trail.

From July 21 to Aug. 4, anyone who completes either of the quests will be entered into a draw to win one of two Fitbit watches.
