WHY QUESTUPON

Why Destinations Choose QuestUpon

QuestUpon combines more than a decade of location-based innovation with a flexible platform built for cities, museums, tourism boards, and events.

Proven Since 2011

We’ve been designing real-world quests for over a decade, long before immersive, location-based experiences were mainstream.

More Than Just AR

Our quests blend navigation, edu-tainment, trivia, mini-games, and AR moments—so every experience is tailored to your story, not to a single technology.

Built for Destinations

QuestUpon is designed around the needs of destinations: clear routes, meaningful stories, repeatable use, and experiences that work in the real world, not just in demos.

Lightweight & Reliable

Built for long walks and real-world exploration, the QuestUpon app is small to download, battery-efficient, and works even in low-signal or offline areas.

Flexible & Future-Ready

Our platform makes it easy to evolve your quest over time—adding new locations, scenes, and interactions without rebuilding from scratch.

Designed for All Ages

From families and school groups to locals and visitors, our quests are built as edu-tainment—engaging, accessible, and easy to onboard.

OUR STORY

Built on Innovation Since 2011

People exploring a destination using QuestUpon

QuestUpon was founded by Miles Marziani and Tammy Meyers with a bold idea: bring stories, creatures, and legends to life in the real world using a smartphone—years before augmented reality became mainstream.

In 2011, we launched our first quest, Legend Tracker, inviting people to search for Sasquatch, Loch Ness, and other mythical creatures through immersive real-world adventures. What began as the creation of a new medium —blending the physical world with interactive digital entertainment—soon became a glimpse into the future of location-based AR.

By 2013, Legend Tracker had gone viral worldwide, reaching over 100 million people and positioning QuestUpon as an early pioneer in location-based storytelling. In 2015, QuestUpon received the “Most Innovative Entertainment Company” award—outperforming major industry finalists including Electronic Arts (EA). The award program was led by Howard Donaldson, former Vice President of Studio Operations at Disney Interactive, adding significant industry prestige to the recognition.

In 2016, Nasdaq invited QuestUpon to create an immersive AR experience in Times Square as part of a landmark event recognizing the AR/VR industry for the first time. We took part in the iconic Nasdaq bell-ringing ceremony, marking a major milestone for our company and for the emerging AR/VR sector.

" Our staff often notice that our younger guests are looking for things to do. We were inspired by QuestUpon to create something for these guests that is appealing to the way they connect with the world. We now have an interactive adventure, for kids of all ages, that has them navigate through the hotel and courtyard, engaging with nature and wildlife that’s native to BC and Kelowna. It works well for us since it utilizes our beautiful one acre courtyard and we’re already known as an urban resort hotel. "
